A RETIREMENT village in Chester has been shortlisted for a national award.
Boughton Hall, in Filkins Lane, Boughton, has been named as a finalist in a national award scheme recognising standards in housing for older people.
The community is one of just 35 winners from the 402 schemes nominated for the National Housing for Older People Awards 2011.
The awards – organised by the Elderly Accommodation Counsel, a national charity which aims to help older people make informed choices about housing and care needs – differ from many because it is the residents who nominate the place where they live. They are asked to score their community in a number of areas, including the standard of facilities and the services received.
Neil Davison, managing director of Enterprise Retirement Living, said: “We are delighted to have reached the final of such well-known awards and proud to have received, from those who have bought homes here, such a ringing endorsement of the environment we have helped create, from which a thriving and inspiring community is emerging.”
Boughton Hall is guaranteed to win at least a bronze award in the ‘schemes with 60-99 homes’ category at the winners’ ceremony to be held at Ascot Racecourse on Thursday, February 3.
Boughton Hall boasts a range of high specification apartments and communal facilities, including a lounge, bar, restaurant, library, gym and salon. One and two bedroom apartments are available priced from £199,500 to £395,000.
