CUSTOMERS and staff at a Chester garden centre were treated to a rather unusual form of Comic Relief style entertainment

Members of Chester based Tip Top Productions drama group performed exerts from the Little Shop of Horrors which will be staged at the Forum Studio Theatre, Chester, from this Thursday until March 26.

The Tip Top cast performed songs and dances from the show and featured the exotic R&B-singing carnivore plant, who thinks he is the star of the show.

Customers gave generously in aid of Comic Relief and special thanks were given to Grosvenor Garden Centre, Wrexham Road, for their participation.

Little Shop of Horrors is a rock musical by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood.

The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman and includes some well-known tunes, including the title song “Skid Row (Downtown)” and “Suddenly, Seymour”

In addition to the original long-running 1982 off-Broadway production and subsequent Broadway productions, the musical has been performed all over the world.

The musical was also made into a 1986 film of the same name directed by Frank Oz.

Performances run from 7.30pm each evening with a matinee on Saturday, March 26 at 2.30pm.

Tickets range from £4 for under 30s performances and £5 for the first night performance, to £10 with £8 for concessions.
