PRIMARY school pupils became businesswomen for two days as part of a project designed to improve economic awareness.
Girls from the Queen’s Lower School, Chester, split into eight ‘companies’ and competed to design an innovative toy. The Year Six house captains took on the role of ‘project managers’ and were required to lead their team and front a pitch promoting their product to their peers and teachers. The victorious company was ‘Explosion!’ led by Grace Atkins, which created ‘Gamezo’, a teddy that doubled as a secure place for storing mp3 players and personal games consoles. Winning project manager Grace attributed her success to the team spirit within her company, and said: “Every girl from Year Three to Year Six tried their best and had brilliant ideas.”
Organising teacher Katy Yousaf said: “All staff were impressed by the independent manner in which the girls worked, as well as the professional and confident pitches.”
