With the age of technology firmly in place and summer in full swing, it is no wonder that we have all gone crazy for cameras once again. With an entire nation obsessed with producing photographic memories of their lives the range of digital cameras available on the market has expanded drastically.
The development of cameras has grown considerably over the last few years with new and exciting models being released constantly. So what can you expect from today’s camera selection? Of course reputable brands, such as Olympus and Sony, will always be popular favourites, offering a wide selection of choices that boast both design style and top features.
Colourful Cameras
Nowadays cameras are as much about style as they are about specifications. Cameras are almost like an accessory and, in some ways, represent our characteristics. It is for this reason that a range of bold, colourful designs have been made over the past few years, providing customers with a choice of striking designs.
Sony cameras are renowned for their Cyber-shot technology which combines powerful image sensors with professional quality lenses in order to produce breathtaking photos. The cameras can also be capable of full, 1080, HD video recording creating clear, High Definition video quickly and easily. Yet Sony cameras are also know for their design styles and sleek appearances.
Examples of these by Sony include the Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 Compact Digital Camera, available in a bold pink, and the Cyber-shot DSC-W560, available in a striking cool blue colour. These, like any Sony Camera, offer a combination of top specifications (being 16.2 and 14.1megapixels respectively and both having 4x optical zoom and 3.0 inch screens) with stylish designs.
Other brands also offer similar colourful cameras. The Olympus D-720 Compact Digital Camera, for instance, comes in both red and purple colour options whilst the Olympus Tough TG-310 is available in white, red or blue and is similar in specification to the Sony DSC-W560.
Stylish SLR
Another popular addition to the camera is the digital SLR camera. SLR, or single lens reflex cameras were developed to allow photographers to have a clearer idea of the image that would be produced on film as previous, non-SLR cameras, could produce photographs which diverged greatly from the image that had been seen through the viewfinder.
SLR cameras are typically larger in size than the, appropriately named, compact digital camera and have a style that resembles traditional, professional cameras. SLR cameras are generally used by professional or amateur photographers as opposed to those interested in taking typical holiday snaps.
There are a vast range of SLR cameras available that boast impressive specifications. SLR cameras can have 18 or even 22 megapixels and 7.5x optical zoom. One example of an SLR digital camera is the Olympus Pen E-PL2 Compact System Camera with 14-42mm lens. With a screen size of 3.0 inches, sensor-shift image stabilisation and 12.3 megapixels this is just one of many Olympus digital cameras.
