THE New Saints have accepted a transfer deadline day bid for striker Chris Sharp, from AFC Telford.
The Park Hall club accepted a club record offer for the 25-year-old, who scored 22 goals in 31 appearances during his 19 month spell with the Oswestry club, prior to his switch to the Bucks Head.
Sharp is the son of former Everton and Scotland legend Graeme Sharp and has earned a reputation as one of the Welsh Premier League’s most feared strikers since bursting onto the scene with Rhyl in 2005.
Sharp missed the whole of the 2006 season after breaking a leg in the Lilywhites' UEFA Cup campaign and despite making a full recovery and returning to action in 2007, he was released from Belle Vue the following summer by mutual consent and signed for bitter rivals Bangor City.
Sharp was the leading scorer at Farrar Road in 2009 with 20 goals and attracted the attention of TNS, who paid a fee for his move to the border club.
However Sharp has endured a torrid time through injury, which saw him miss much of last season, while he also received a four match suspension following his dismissal in the league game against Bala Town.
Sharp is the third former TNS player to turn up at the New Bucks Head and joins defender Rob Williams, who joined in the summer and midfielder Carl Rodgers, who has been with the Bucks for six seasons.
“We would like to thank Chris for his service to TNS and wish him all the best for the future,” said TNS chief Mike Davies.
