A MAN was found dead in woodland after a 10-hour search.

The 23-year-old local man was last seen in Mold town centre at 11.30pm on Friday after he had been out socialising.

He was found at 7.30pm on Saturday in woodland near County Hall.

Ian Ashcroft, team leader with North East Wales Search and Rescue, said team members were called out after the family contacted police concerned that the man had not returned home.

“Our team were called at 9am on Saturday to look for a 23-year-old male who had been missing since the previous night.

“We were joined by three dogs from SARDA (Search and Rescue Dogs Association) and a team from Cheshire Search and Rescue.

“We were searching the area around the Shire Hall and Leadmills and towards the bypass and Mynydd Isa.”

His family have been informed and North Wales Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Mr Ashcroft said the police helicopter was also called out.

“At 7.30pm we found the gentleman deceased in the woods near the Shire Hall.

“The team sends its condolences, but are glad to have brought closure to the family.”
