COLWYN BAY boss Dave Challinor is looking to ring the changes to his side after a disappointing FA Cup exit at the weekend.
The Bay lost 3-1 in their Second Qualifying Round clash with Stocksbridge Park Steels despite taking an early lead through new signing Bradley Barnes.
Challinor said that he was now looking to add some experienced campaigners to his squad to freshen up his starting line-up in a bid to continue the Bay’s solid start to their Blue Square North campaign.
“Obviously we’re disappointed with the result. We played really well for the first half hour and got ourself ahead, but we self destructed in the last fifteen minutes,” he said.
“We huffed and puffed in the second half, and then they scored in injury time.
“I think we’re doing OK, I don’t think we’ve been spectacular, and I’m starting to see signs of things that need to be nipped in the bud.
“We’re ten or so games into the season now and I think I can count on one hand the games which we’ve played well, which funnily enough have mostly been games we’ve lost.
“I don’t want there to be a revolving door where lads come in and then go straight out, but it’s my reputation and the club’s reputation on the line and it’s time for changes.”
“I’d love to bring a bit more quality and experience in. Obviously I can’t just go out and bring in someone who will score 20 goals a season, we have to work within the budget we’ve got.
Midfielder Barnes, who joined this week from Chester City, hammered a superb opener into the top corner from 30 yards to give the Seagulls a 15th minute lead.
But the dominance was shortlived, as Steels levelled through Chris Adam on the half hour mark and took the lead just before the break through the impressive Jack Muldoon.
Some tight defending kept Stocksbridge in command in the second half, and Mark Ward netted a penalty in injury time to seal their progress into to the next round.
COMING UP NEXT: This Saturday, the Seagulls take an away trip to Hinckley United, who have just welcomed back midfielder Sam Belcher.
The Bay then face two tough home features where the club will need the support that boss Dave Challinor has called for. On Saturday 15 (3pm) they welcome second-placed Stalybridge, while on October 22 (3pm), 5th placed Corby Town will be the visitors
