A POPULAR father-of-four has died from cancer.

Nevin Adams, known to friends and family as Nev, was well-known in Shotton and Connah’s Quay, having worked at various pubs in the two towns.

The 51-year-old from Shotton was diagnosed with lung cancer in January and died at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Backford, Chester on November 8.

Paying tribute, his daughter Danielle, 20, said: “He was a passionate Liverpool supporter and a loving father.

“He lived his life to the full.”

Mr Adams, who attended Shotton County Primary School and Connah’s Quay High School, grew up on the town’s Alexandra Street.

He worked at British Steel for about 15 years on leaving school before working as a bar manager at pubs including the Central Hotel, Wepre Inn, The Melrose Inn and The Hare and Hounds.

“He was Shotton born and bred,” said his brother Russell, 47.

“Everyone knew him.”

Mr Adams played for several local football teams including British Steel and Connah’s Quay Nomads.

“Football and his family were his passion,” said Danielle.

“He was an avid Liverpool supporter. Anyone who wants to wear a bit of red to his funeral and emphasise his love of Liverpool will be welcome.”

Mr Adams, whose father, Ernie, died last year, also leaves his mother Sylvia, brother Gary, 43, children Nichola, 31, Chloe, 13, and James, 10, as well as grandsons Mark, 17 and Jack, two.

His  former wife Jackie had helped to look after him after he became ill.

Mr Adams was treated at the Countess of Chester Hospital before his condition deteriorated and went to stay at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. Danielle added:

“We’d like to thank the hospice for its support and kindness in his final days.”

A funeral service will be held tomorrow at St Mark’s Church, Connah’s Quay at 10.30am. Mr Adams will then be laid to rest at Hawarden No2 Cemetery.

There are family flowers only but say any donations will be gratefully received in his memory for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.
