POLICE have launched a probe following claims that an innocent woman’s flat was targeted in a drugs raid.

The 24-year-old woman was at home in her one bedroom flat in Blacon when three police officers armed with a search warrant stormed in.

The woman, who does not wish to be named, said: “They motioned me to open the door and said they needed to speak to me.

“They didn’t even know who I was but they said they had a warrant to search the house and tried to suggest I knew the person they were after.”

The woman, who moved into the flat in May told officers she had no idea who the person was.

The raid, which took place in September, was performed as part of a crackdown on drugs in the area.

She added: “I told them I didn’t even know anyone in Blacon let alone this person they were after.

“But they just said they would be searching the property for drugs and drug-related paraphernalia.”

The resident, a former stable hand, who has no previous convictions, said she was left with no choice but to let them search her one bedroomed flat.

She said: “They told me that the magistrate wouldn’t issue a warrant without good reason to believe that you were involved with this person.

“I pointed out that I had only lived there since May and that I was sure they had made a mistake but they just said it wasn’t the case.

“They said they had intelligence on drugs at the property, so they said I may as well just let them get on with it.”

The woman said her bedroom was the main search area.
“They went through all of my personal belongings and as a private person I felt it was wrong three men going through my intimate belongings,” she added.

“They had the law on their side and I was in no way treated as an innocent person but they suggested I had committed a crime and they treated me that way. There was no respect and they just accused me of being involved even though I kept telling them I had no clue.”

After the search proved unseccessful, officers left the property and the woman said she was left “shaken and shocked” by the ordeal.

After making a complaint, she recieved a letter from John Armstrong from the professional standards department at Blacon Police Station.

Cheshire Police Inspector Steve Beddows said: “The issue is currently being thoroughly reviewed by a senior officer, inquiries are continuing and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."
