A MAN has been found hanged in the car park of a well-known Chester fitness venue.
His body was discovered in an underground car park at Total Fitness, Liverpool Road, on Saturday morning. Police are appealing for help in identifying the man, who is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s and may be Polish.
He was discovered by joggers shortly before 8.30am on Saturday.
A spokesman for Cheshire police said: “The body was found hanging in an underground car park of a fitness centre on Liverpool Road, Chester, at about 8.25am on the morning of Saturday, January 7. It was seen by two passing joggers who alerted police.
“At this stage, there are no suspicious circumstances.”
Since the body was discovered Cheshire Police have been conducting enquiries to try and reveal the dead man’s identity in a bid to inform his next of kin
“While the man had no identification on him, he did have an ipod which has Polish wording on it, suggesting this may be his first language,” added the spokesman.
“The man is described as a white man, aged about 19 to early twenties, 6ft tall and of proportionate build.
“He has mousey brown spikey hair, and dark eye brows with ginger in them.”
Police say the man was found wearing a blue hooded jumper, blue body warmer, black Nike gloves, grey tracksuit bottoms and white Nike trainers with luminous green logo or detail on them.
He also wore a silver coloured chain necklace, with three interwoven circular bands on it.
Officers are appealing to anyone who may recognise the man from the description given to make contact with them.
They are also asking those who share accommodation in flats or houses, as well as managers of hotels, bed and breakfasts or similar establishments, to consider whether they have had somebody staying who fits the description of the deceased and who has not been seen during the weekend.
Police believe the man may have been Polish, or spoken with a Polish accent, due to the language on the ipod.
Anyone with any information should call Chester Police on 101, quoting incident 288 of January 7, 2012.
