TWO young men who were killed in a horrific crash on the Horseshoe Pass will be laid to rest this week.
Johnathan Cassidy-Jones and Dale Williams, both 18, of Ruabon, were killed when the car they were travelling in left the A542 near Llangollen on Monday, January 9.
The men, who were both students at Coleg Llysfasi, will have separate funeral services in their home village.
Johnathan’s funeral will be held on Thursday at St Mary’s Parish Church, Ruabon, at 1pm.
It will be followed by burial within the churchyard and a wake at the Wynnstay Arms, Ruabon, which anyone who knew Johnathan is welcome to attend.
Dale’s funeral will also be held at St Mary’s Church on Friday at 11.30am, followed by cremation at Pentrebychan Crematorium.
At both funerals there will be family flowers only, with donations to be given to the Wales Air Ambulance.
Speaking last week, the headteacher of Ysgol Rhiwabon, Angela Williams, paid tribute to the former students.
She said: “I recall them very well, they were vibrant characters whom we remember with great affection.”
A spokesman for Coleg Llysfasi described both men as “well liked and talented students” and said everyone at the college was devastated at the news of the deaths.
Johnathan’s parents, Paula and Nigel Jones, paid a moving tribute to their beloved son.
They said: “We are very proud of him.
“He was everything you could want for a son – hard working, caring and thoughtful.”
A large number of tributes have been paid to both men on the social networking website Facebook.
A third man involved in the collision, Tom Pewtner, also 18 and from Ruabon, was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital with serious injuries.
