RHYL, Prestatyn and Rhuddlan are among towns throughout Denbighshire that could soon be subject of a drinking ban.
Councillors were being recommended yesterday to make an order prohibiting the drinking of alcohol in all public places within the 30mph speed limit in bid to tackle anti-social behaviour.
The towns effected by the county-wide ban proposed include the resorts Rhyl and Prestatyn, city of St Asaph, and historic towns Rhuddlan, Dyserth, Bodelwyddan, Denbigh, Ruthin, Llangollen and Corwen
Similar orders already exist in parts of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Llangollen.
In a report to the council Roly Schwarz, the community safety enforcement officer, says it is hoped that the move will reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour.
“Not only does this often include under-age consumption of alcohol but it can also generate problems of crime, public nuisance, disorder and social nuisance which impacts on the quality of life of citizens and visitors to the area,” he says.
All local authorities have been consulted about the proposal, with only Prestatyn Town Council expressing doubt about the benefits of extending the current order.
