BALA VETS 14
RUTHIN VETS 12

ALMOST £3,000 was raised for the Bryan “Yogi” Davies Appeal after a fantastic day of rugby at Bala.

Last Sunday kicked off with a clash at Maes Gwyniad between the veteran sides of Bala and Ruthin, while the fundraising continued with an auction of rugby shirts.

Unfortunately, Bryan was unable to attend the game and he sent his apologies.

A good crowd turned out to support both of the veteran sides on the day and they were not to be disappointed, as the old heads showed the youngsters on the touchline how the game should be played.

Bala edged to a 14-12 victory courtesy of tries from Bedwyr Jones and Arron Jones, while Gwilym “Gwgs” Jones and Ynyr Jones kicked a conversion apiece.

However, Ruthin are claiming a moral victory after they bagged a rare pushover try against the Bala forwards!

After the completion of the game, all of the players trooped off to the Plas Coch to enjoy some food and talk about games from their heyday, before cheering on Wales as they beat Ireland in the Six Nations Championship.

An auction of rugby shirts raised £940 towards the appeal fund, while overall a sum of £2,854 was realised.
