The terrifying ordeal unfolded as the 37-year-old and her partner desperately tried to thwart a men from stealing their car. The pair from Elton, near Chester, dived onto the bonnet of their Mazda 6 car and hung on while the man drove off.

But once both homeowners had been thrown off, the offenders sped off down Old Hall Lane and turned right onto Ince Lane.

Police are now on the hunt for the culprits. one of the men has been described as being in his early 20s, with thin long brown hair and was wearing a light coloured top and jacket.

A police spokeswoman said: "The consequences of this incident could have been far more serious.

"The victims could have been considerably injured or indeed have lost their lives, the penalties for which would be very serious for the offenders."
