AN AMATEUR dramatic group in Chester has raised more than £700 for charity following their record breaking production of ’Allo ’Allo.
Upton Dramatic Society members have donated all the proceeds raised at their five-night sell-out performance of the stage play of the much loved BBC TV series ’Allo ’Allo to the Upton British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Society chairman Ian Hughes said: “We always make a donation to a local charity from the proceeds of our productions.
"This year we broke all box office records."
The group says the next production, to be performed in its 75th anniversary season, will be quite a contrast.
Upton Dramatic Society will perform an adaptation for the stage by Charles Vance of the classic Charlotte Bronte novel Jane Eyre at the Upton Village Hall from Wednesday, March 17, through to Saturday, March 20.
The groups have nominated Dorin Park School and Specialist SEN College in Upton as their nominated charity.
The play will be directed by Michael Fair who played Rene in the production of ’Allo ’Allo.
“This will be another departure from our traditional productions as we try to give both our members and audiences a variety of theatre experiences,” said Michael.
