A HIGHLY anticipated discount fashion store is set to open its doors to eager Chester customers in May.

The former Woolworths store, on Foregate Street, Chester, is currently being transformed into a two-level store containing clothing ranges for men, women and children, as well as homeware, by Irish discount clothes retailer Primark.

A spokesman from the company confirmed that the store would reach completion in May, following 15 months of work. The application to create a new store in Chester was first put forward to Cheshire West and Chester Council planning officials by Primark in December 2008.

The store is expected to breathe new life into the retail market in Chester whilst creating 211 new jobs in the city.
