Body pulled from River Dee in Chester still to be identified

THE body of a man pulled from the River Dee at Chester has yet to be identified.
A passer by alerted police officers to the grim find between the Old Dee Bridge and Grosvenor Bridge just before 2.30pm on Wednesday.


The body is believed to be that of a man aged between 20-30.
 

 His exact age has yet to be established.
 

Police cordoned off the area, a popular route for school children walking home and dog walkers, while rescue crews, including the RNLI Flint Lifeboat were called to assist. Crime scene investigators put up a tent on site to carry out further investigations.
 

The body was taken by ambulance to the Countess of Chester hospital for a post- mortem to be carried out, the findings of which are not yet known.
 

Cheshire Police spokesman Jason Murray said: “We are awaiting the results of a post mortem and in the meantime inquiries are being made in relation to the missing person’s register. We are doing all we can to ascertain the cause of death.”
