A FREE half-day conference designed to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship in the Chester and Ellesmere Port areas is to be held.

Entrepreneur Fraser Doherty, who started his SuperJam brand in his mother’s kitchen at the age of 14 and now supplies the UK’s major supermarket chains, will be the keynote speaker and will talk people through the highs and lows of developing a national brand.

The event, entitled ‘Take Control Today’, is being run jointly by Enterprise UK, the Enterprise Advisor Service, the NorthWest Development Agency and West Cheshire College in order to give people interested in starting their own businesses the opportunity to learn some of the start-up basics  to be considered.

The event will include seminars on websites and e-marketing, business start-up, social enterprise and tax.

Key local business organisations will also have representatives on hand to discuss how they can help to develop and grow new businesses in the area.

The free event runs from 1pm to 5pm at Chester Racecourse on Tuesday, March 30. Places can be booked online by visiting http://takecontroltodaychester.eventbrite.com or calling 01244 670600.

Dr Ruth Jones, FE Enterprise hub co-ordinator for west Cheshire, said: “We hope it will inspire people to turn their passion into profit by unleashing their business potential.”
