AN AMATEUR drama group from Chester are playing host to a ground-breaking performance for people with limited sight.

Upton Dramatic Society members are putting on a special rendition of Jane Eyre where people who have lost their sight can have a touch tour of the set and enjoy the play with a described performance by headphones.

“We are conscious that all members of the community have equal opportunity to enjoy our productions,” said Ian Hughes, society chairman.

“A hearing loop has been available for some time and now we are able to extend our inclusivity to those with sight loss.

“We hope that in future we will also be able to provide a signed performance for those with hearing loss.”

The special performance will be on Thursday, March 18 and advanced booking is required.

The play runs from March 17 to 20 at Upton Village Hall from 7.45pm.

Dorin Park School, Upton and SEN College is the society’s nominated charity.
