AS MANY as 300 Guides, Brownies and Rainbows from across Chester celebrated World Thinking Day with a colourful celebration of culture, music and dance.
The World Arts Festival event at Upton High School celebrated World Thinking Day - this is the day when Guides from around the world join in thinking about their Guiding counterpart across the globe - and was extra special because it fell in the middle of Girlguiding UK’s Centenary celebrations.
Activities at the World Arts Festival included Bollywood dancing, Chinese calligraphy, learning the New Zealand Haka, making Japanese dolls, Caribbean storytelling and American cheerleading, all led by a team of specialists drafted in for the occasion.
Girls attending the event were asked to take along shiny pound coins with the aim of raising money for less fortunate children in other countries by collecting at least ‘100 Thinking Day Pennies in our 100th Year’.
