THE GUARD and ship’s company from HMS Albion were saluted by Lord Mayor John Ebo after a march through Chester city centre.

Cllr Ebo, standing alongside alongside Captain John Kingwell, paid his respects to personnel from Chester’s adopted frigate after the group exercised their Freedom of the City.

The march followed a service at Chester Cathedral where the ship’s new bell was be dedicated and blessed by the Bishop of Chester, the Right Rev Dr Peter Forster
Albion, one of the UK’s largest and most technologically advanced amphibious assault and command and control ships, was berthed in the Port of Liverpool for a four-day visit that included the Chester march past.

HMS Albion is heading a task group of amphibious ships with 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines who have embarked for Exercise Cold Response in Northern Norway.

The short visit is aimed at giving the ship's guard and company an opportunity to unwind after a period of hard training.
