Amanda Gray of Western Avenue, Blacon.

A 44-YEAR-old woman has been banned from entering or loitering outside a Blacon shop after being handed an ASBO.

Amanda Gray, of Western Avenue, Blacon, was given a three-year ASBO at Chester Magistrates Court after the court was presented with evidence of her intimidating and threatening behaviour towards residents and staff at the shop.

Under the ASBO, Gray is prohibited from using threatening or intimidating language or behaviour in a public place, entering or loitering or begging outside the Spar shop, in Western Avenue, Blacon, except for walking past the shop without stopping.

People can not buy alcohol on her behalf or ask anyone to enter the shop for her.

She is also not allowed to enter any public place with a dog unless it is on a lead and muzzled and if she is caught drinking or possessing an unsealed container of alcohol in a public place she could face further court action.

The ASBO was applied for by Cheshire Police with support from Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) and Chester and District Housing Trust, after other attempts to improve Gray’s behaviour failed.

She signed an acceptable behaviour contract in September, but her anti-social behaviour continued so the ASBO was applied for.

Community safety officer for CWaC, Sam Chapman, said: “Amanda Gray was given a chance to work with both the police and the council to amend her behaviour, unfortunately she did not take that opportunity. Behaviour like hers will not be tolerated in the community.”

Sgt Darren Griffiths, of the Chester outer neighbourhood policing team, said: “Residents and those who work in the area deserve to go about their business without fear of intimidation or verbal abuse.

“We were able to apply for this order thanks to information from the public. I would encourage anyone who is having issues with anti-social behaviour to report it so action can be taken.”

To report anti-social behaviour, call the council anti-social behaviour hotline on 0300 123 7033.
