EXCITED pupils have welcomed an addition to their playground following a donation from a glass plant near Chester.

Elton Pre-School, which educates 60 pupils aged between two and four years, received a £500 donation from Quinn Glass to help establish a play area after the school moved to a new site near Elton Primary on School Lane.

The money was used to purchase a willow tree which will be grown into a tunnel for the children to enjoy.

Emma McKeown, from Elton Pre-School, said: “We always encourage our children to play outside in the fresh air and now, thanks to Quinn Glass, we’ve got a new place for the children to enjoy. While our new willow tree is starting life small, it’ll soon grow into a fantastic area for our pupils to explore."

To mark the planting of the new willow tree, James McGreevy, facilities manager at Quinn Glass, joined staff and pupils at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, February 24.
