STARS of a Chester-based soap are to get behind efforts to ensure the success of a fundraiser for a children’s hospice.
The Cheshire Jets and thebestofchester have joined forces with Hollyoaks to help launch the sale of tickets for this year’s Claire House Jet Set Ball 2010 black tie charity ball at Chester Racecourse.
Bronagh Waugh, who plays wild child Cheryl Brady in the Chester-based soap, attended the launch at the racecourse alongside Jets top scorer Chez Marks.
“Claire House is really important to all of us at Hollyoaks and we have been supporters of it for some time now.
“It’s so important what they do and we just want to do our best to raise awareness, raise money and get everyone to buy tickets because it’s going to be a fantastic event.”
It will be the third year that the Cheshire Jets and thebestofchester alongside Claire House have worked together to organise the charity event which has turned into one of the highlights of Chester’s social calendar. Jets director Peter Hawkins said: “Last year was a huge success and we managed to raise more than £12,000.
“This year we are aiming for over £16,000 to do this we hope to sell around 400 tickets.
“All money raised from the event goes directly to Claire House and makes a real difference to the lives of the families and children helped by this fantastic charity.”
Paul Daniels from thebestofchester says Claire House needs £2.5 million a year to continue to provide essential support for young children and young adults with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Claire House fundraiser Laura Breen said: “We hope people will join us on Friday, October 8, at the Racecourse Pavilion Suite. We have a Jet Set theme for this year so expect lots of glitz and glamour. Every penny raised on the night goes to provide a service for children and young people with life-threatening or life limiting conditions across the North West.”
The evening includes a three course meal, music from band One Stop Boogie and a disco to round off the night.
Tickets for the Jet Set Ball cost £45 or £495 for a table of 10 which includes wine.
