A WOMAN was seriously hurt in a crash on the M56 near Chester this morning.
Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash, which happened at about 6.35am, on the eastbound carriageway near the Hapsford junction.
The cars involved were a black Ford KA and a grey BMW.
The female driver of the KA had to be cut out of the vehicle by firefighters from Ellesmere Port and was later taken to the Countess of Chester hospital with serious injuries. The other driver suffered minor injuries.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said there are road closures on the eastbound carriageway and diversions are in place.
