A CHESTER-based butcher is celebrating after he won eight accolades in a week.
S J Bebbington Butchers, of Chester Market, achieved six gold awards and one silver prize at the Bpex North West Roadshow at The Reebok Stadium, in Bolton - just days before being awarded 100 per cent in a mystery shopping competition.
Stuart Bebbington, who established the butchers 17 years ago, said : “I am absolutely delighted with the wins at the regional finals.
“We have entered three years running and this has been the best year so far. We have not entered as many products but we are taking it as quality rather than quantity.”
S J Bebbington Butchers were awarded top prizes for their dry cured back bacon, their traditional pork sausage and their speciality matador sausage.
Young sausage-maker, Joe Farmer, 20, who has been at the butchers since leaving school, scored highly in the ‘young’ category with his sage, red onion and smoked bacon sausages.
The awards came just days before a Chester retailer competition, in which the butchers won top marks.
Mr Bebbington, 39, from Tarvin said: “We entered into a mystery shopping competition and didn’t know how it had gone. We were absolutely shocked to be given a 100 per cent scoring. We were in total shock to be honest - absolutely gobsmacked. It’s been a great week for us.”
