A COMEDY club owner is giving away £300 to anyone who can successfully help him find a new name for his expanding business.

Entrepreneur Gary Soloman, who started up Chester Comedy Club about six months ago, has announced plans to change the name of his venue so he can expand it across the rest of the UK.

Gary, 36, recently decided to open a new venue in Birmingham and he also has plans to open at other locations this year.

The father-of-two said: “We decided to change the name of the club to something more in line with traditional comedy clubs as it will allow us to expand further afield than just Chester, giving us the chance to bring bigger acts to the region.”

He added: “While we are going national, Chester will still be our home.”

Gary said the comedy club has already been boosted with the news that Jo Enright who stole the inaugural show with her “gentle style” has agreed to compere future shows and will now be a regular.

The ‘Name that Club’ competition is being held on the club’s website at www.ChesterComedyClub.co.uk.

The deadline for entries is Wednesday, March 24 and the winner will be picked by Gary and Jo and announced by Friday, March 26.

Tickets for the show on Friday, March 26, are also now on sale on the website and includes BAFTA winner Robin Ince and star of Michael McIntrye’s Comedy Roadshow Ava Vidal.
