MEMBERS of Prestatyn Running Club head for Derbyshire this weekend on a new venture for the club.
About 25 members are expected to make the trip to Longdendale for the six-mile trail race – titled Northern Boys Love Gravy – and will then have Sunday lunch in a local hostelry.
The bus leaves Saints Fitness Centre at 7.30am.
The same day two members, Gay Waring and Sian Beck, will be among 10 North Wales police officers taking part in the West Cumbrian 10-mile race in memory of Bill Barker, the officer who drowned during last year’s floods in Cockermouth.
Last week Steve Hatfield picked up another M60 victory, but this time in the blue and yellow vest of his second-claim club Cleethorpes.
He won his class in the two-lap race held over the same course as the three-lap Croxby Crippler half-marathon in Lincolnshire. As the name implies, the course of just under nine miles is a testing one and Steve clocked 67.14.
Another super-vet Philip Jones took on the challenge of the Talyfan race from Rowen, above the Conwy Valley. The eight-mile race involved 2,400ft of climbing, beginning with a long and severe ascent.
The oldest man in the field, he clocked a very respectable 1.45.
