AFTER a stop-start pre-season campaign so far, Ruthin Town continued their preparations for the new season with a victory .

Adie Jones’ side began their friendly programme with a 2-0 win at home to Wrexham XI, but their next two scheduled friendlies - versus Newtown and Gresford Athletic - were postponed.

Over the weekend Cymru Alliance Ruthin entertained Welsh Alliance visitors Conwy United.

In the end it all came down to a Bryn Jones goal to settle matters in favour of the higher league outfit.

Ruthin’s preparations  continue this Saturday with a friendly at Manchester Premier League club Hollinwood FC, who play on synthetic turf.

There has been a boost for Ruthin on the players front as Mike Garrod, Kevin Garland and Mark Entwistle have committed themselves to the club.

Team boss Jones was more than pleased when Garrod and Garland re-signed.

“It’s great news for the club and myself because they are both good players and always give you 110 per cent, which is what you want from your players as a manager,” Jones told the Ruthin Town FC website.

Also returning to the club is former captain and crowd favourite ‘Chisel’ Entwistle.
