Prestatyn Town will have plenty of positives to take from a 2-1 defeat against Blue Square North side Hyde United at the weekend.
The Seasiders stood up well to a tidy looking Hyde outfit, and managed to ask a few questions of their own during a well contested match.
Steve Hoult enjoyed Town’s best chance of the half, but his ambitious half volley was fired just wide of the Hyde goal.
The visitors took the lead ten minutes into the second half when Kyle Wilson fired home a free kick, before he then turned provider on 65 minutes to set up former Bangor City striker Ashley Stott.
Prestatyn were still well in the match and got a deserved consolation five minutes from time, as Ian Griffiths took advantage of uncertainty in the Hyde defence and clipped in a neat finish.
The match was the latest in Prestatyn’s pre-season preparations before the Super 12s season kick-off away to TNS on Friday August 13.
Prestatyn reserves also face Welsh National League champions Rhos Aelwyd on Wednesday night in a 7pm kick off.
