A MAN was arrested after a major police operation.

Scores of officers, including armed police and the force helicopter were sent to Park Avenue in Saltney shortly after 2pm on Friday.

Residents were warned to stay indoors, but dozens of people gathered on the street to watch the events unfold.

One resident, told the Leader: “The first we knew of it was when five or six police cars came speeding into the street. Two of the police were armed with guns and the others had sniffer dogs.

“We heard shouting and a lot of commotion.”

North Wales Police said they were responding to a domestic incident.
A spokesman said one man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and was helping police with their inquiries.

No-one is reported to have been injured.

Park Avenue and Irvings Crescent were cordoned off for more than two hours.
Saltney councillor Veronica Gay was at the scene as the drama unfolded.

She said: “The police blocked off the road and even the bus couldn’t get through.”
Officers left the scene at about 5.30pm.

The police spokesman added: “Officers searched a property and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact nature of the incident.”
