STAFF at a housing trust held more than 250 events across the borough last month to raise awareness of care and support services.

Chester and District Housing Trust (CDHT) bosses arranged the events for Care and Support Awareness (CASA) month during July, aiming to promote care, help and advice services and activities provided to members of the community.

The events ranged from strawberry tea mornings and afternoons with information stalls to the opening of a new sheltered scheme where residents were invited to tour the construction and inspect progress of Suffolk House.

Sue Kennaugh from CDHT’s Resident Involvement Team said: “At each event we had a selection of activities, information and advice.

“All of them were well received this year.

“We were there to listen to residents about their individual needs, giving us a chance to gain their feedback on our services.

“We shared our revised service standards for housing support that have been developed with residents and asked for their views.

“We also shared details of all services that may be helpful to them and listened to their thoughts on any other services they may require.

“A demonstration of the latest equipment from support services like Chestercare was very popular.”

Involvement of CDHT in CASA month 2010 began in May and aimed to provide advice for those who needed additional services, who wanted information about what was available to them and who wanted to meet other residents.

John Denny, chief executive of CDHT, added: “It was fantastic to be able to see so many people enjoying themselves.”
