THE final pre-season runout before the big kick-off went Corwen’s way.

Simon Brown gave Elfed Lloyd’s visitors the lead, but Andrew ‘Bobble’ Roberts’ bobbling effort soon had Corwen level.

Dafydd Jones and a brilliant Gethin Edwards 25-yarder sealed Corwen’s win.

Elsewhere, chances galore characterised Denbigh Town’s 3-1 friendly win at an Airbus XI.

Craig Wilkinson had put the James’ boys in front on 27 minutes, however eight minutes later the Wingmakers were level with Damien Wilkins firing home.

A 35-yard cracker from Jon Slater regained the lead for Denbigh in the second period and the win was completed by a Huw Price spot kick, after a foul on Osian Jones.

Corwen Reserves’ manager Simon Harrison started the friendly against Rhos Aelwyd Colts with a very youthful side, which included many of the players who had made the step up from the successful U-16 side.

Will Jones gave Corwen the lead, although Rhos were soon level with a goal that gave keeper Jamie Bodden no chance.

The second half saw Corwen almost completely change their line-up, and they re-took the lead through Tom Dolben Hughes.

Goal number three was a piece of magic, as Paul Jones and new signing Béril Akad set up Scott Evans to backheel the ball in.

Denbigh Town Reserves entertained Garston FC in their final pre-season game of the summer, with the Liverpool-based visitors running out 3-0 winners.

Pick of the Denbigh players was Lee Mason.

Meanwhile, two first-half strikes accounted for Corwen as they lost out 2-0 in a friendly against Welsh Alliance Conwy United.

In the second half, Corwen came into the game more and forced the goalkeeper into making a good save from a well-worked free kick.
