BUDDING singers and bands are being urged to take part in a new competition.
Cheshire Police have extended the deadline for their ‘Upbeat’ song contest.
Singers and bands, aged 11 to 18, now have until the end of September to submit their entries.

The competition, which allows the winning act to professionally record a song, is to encourage schools, colleges and youth organisations to help ‘wannabees’ who don’t have access to recording equipment.

Entrants need to send a recording of an original song that deals with one of a number of issues, ranging from anti-social behaviour to bullying.

Hopeful entries will then be judged by a member of Cheshire Constabulary, a studio producer, and three young people from local schools.

Cheshire Police have organised the competition to help promote a new website, www.upbeat.uk.com, which aims to encourage a link between the police and youngsters in the Chester area.

To enter the competition upload your performance to YouTube and email a link to your video to upbeat@cheshire.pnn.police.uk by the extended date of September 30. Entries can be sent on DVD or CD to Cheshire Police HQ, Oakmere Road, Winsford, Cheshire, CW7 2UA.
