IT was a quadruple celebration in the Maloney household, as two sets of twin sisters proved to be high flyers!

Last week, 18 year-old twins Charlotte and Emma Maloney collected their A’ Level results from St Brigid's, Denbigh.

Head girl Charlotte, gained two A* and two A grades and will be reading Law at Manchester University, Emma gained one A* and two Bs will be heading to Leeds University to study new media.

Emma said: "I am so proud as her twin, I could not be happier."

This week was the turn of their younger twin sisters - Olivia and Hollie Maloney, 16, also pupils at St Brigid's, as they collected their GCSE results.

Olivia gained one A*, four As, three Bs and three Cs, Hollie gained three As, four Bs, and four Cs.

The girls will now continue on to A Levels, with Olivia studying RE, art, history and ICT and Hollie studying art, RE, and English literature.

It was a stressful few weeks for not only the girls but also their mother - Mandy, who works as a high level teaching assistant at the school.

"Olivia and Holly are over the moon," said Mandy.

"They didn't think they were going to do that well, so they are really happy.

"They phoned their sisters as soon as they received their results, Charlotte and Emma are really pleased for them.

"I am a very proud mother," she added.

Results day proved to be a poignant one for the family, who lost their husband and father - Michael to cancer of the esophagus.

"Michael died four years ago, in the July, just before Charlotte and Emma began their GCSE's," said Mandy.

Michael was diagnosed with the disease just after Christmas and died in the July.

Charlotte and Emma have now received their acceptance letters into university, and will be heading off on September 14.
