Historic day for Llanrhaeadr

LLANRHAEADR will bid to complete the Welsh Cup shock of the decade, when giants Rhyl arrive at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.


The tie is the pick of the first round, with the Tanat Valley club expecting a bumper gate for the visit of the former Welsh Premier giants, while Llanrhaeadr go into the game top of the Spar Mid Wales League Division One.


Manager Mario Iaquinta said: "We have nothing to lose and we will just aim to enjoy our day. Rhyl are massive favourites, but we hope we can do ourselves proud.”


Mid Wales League rivals Carno also face a former Welsh Premier giant in Porthmadog, who have endured a torrid start to the season.


Manager John Davies said: "If we can play like we did in the first-half last week then we can look forward to giving them a good game.”


Llanidloes Town will also bid to spring a shock, with Cymru Alliance side Ruthin Town visiting Victoria Avenue.


“It is another big game for the club and we hope as many fans as possible come down to watch us attempt to cause an upset,” said assistant manager Peter Jones.


There are two all Cymru Alliance affairs, with Rhayader Town bidding for a first win of the season at Caersws.


Rhayader manager Dylan McPhee said: “It should be a cracking cup tie. We have nothing to fear and go there with confidence.”


Caersws will start as favourites following a strong start to the season, with Graham Evans also looking to make his first home start since returning from Aberystwyth Town.


Guilsfield manager Mike Barton warned his side to face a battle at Penrhyncoch.
“It will be a physical game but we are up for it,” said Barton who is without midfielders Gareth Jones and Joe Coulson.


Technogroup Welshpool make the longest trip of the day, with Holyhead Hotspur the destination.


Pool have added striker Shahaan Maih to the squad and are hoping for more arrivals ahead of the tie.


Elsewhere Waterloo Rovers will travel north to former Welsh Premier side Conwy United, while Bow Street host Wrexham Area League side Lex XI and Dolgellau Athletic entertain Cymru Alliance giants Llandudno.


Penparcau make a trip into the unknown to face Treaddur Bay, with Tywyn Bryncrug also hitting the road for Nefyn United.
