A COUPLE have been the first to enjoy their big day at a refurbished Parkgate church.
St Thomas’ Church, Parkgate, Neston, opened its doors for the first time since the work to celebrate the marriage of Angharad Hubble and Martin Pulford, of Neston.
Commonly known as the Fisherman’s Church the occasion marked the first special wedding celebration since the church closed in 1994.
The beautiful 167-year-old building was reopened in July after massive community support prevented demolition and funded restoration.
Spokeswoman for the church Jill Pratt said: “St Thomas has been reopened by the Parish of Neston as a centre for worship and for community use so its thrilling to have Angharad and Martin’s wedding as a first.
“They are regular worshippers and its absolutely great that they want to get married here as well. St Thomas is very much open for business again and we want to encourage its use for wedding and community activities.”
