MICHAEL ASPIN is keen to help the Blues kick-on towards title glory.
The talented 21-year-old right back played a key role in the 2-0 league victory against Cammell Laird at the weekend.
And Aspin is now planning to see his table-topping club wrap up their campaign with victories from their last four fixtures.
He said: “We all work hard for one another and we have been disappointed with some of our results in recent weeks. But we knew that if we could stick together then things would turn round for us.
“We just have to make sure we can kick on and that everyone can work towards the same goal of winning the league title.
“The situation is back in our own hands after the home win on Saturday. We need to win our remaining matches and stay on track – it’s as simple as that if we’re going to win the title.”
Reflecting on Saturday’s victory, courtesy of two Michael Wilde goals that took his tally for the season to 36, Aspin added: “It was just a case of us getting the first goal.
“I thought we battered Cammell Laird from the first minute to the last. I don’t think there was a spell in the game when they were on top.
“It was a frustrating first half, but it was just a case of us getting a goal and once the first one went in we knew we could go on to win the game.
“I think we could have gone on and scored four or five, but the heat was difficult to play in and a few of the players were feeling it a little bit.
“I think we were more than happy to keep the ball and keep things simple. We were more than happy to come away with all three points.
“Cammell Laird didn’t have too much of a game plan. They just tried to defend and it was a case of us getting one goal and then the three points were always going to be ours.”
And Aspin underlined the importance of having club captain George Horan available when Chester travel to Radcliffe Borough this Saturday.
Horan completed a two-game ban for accumulating 10 bookings last night, but is expected to return to action this weekend, and Aspin said: “George has popped up and scored key goals when we have needed him.
“But everyone in the squad is good enough to play. We know if someone goes down with an injury then someone else is waiting in the wings to step in.
“But George is a massive leader for us. He’s the club captain and we’re all looking forward to having him back for the weekend.”
