ATHLETICS: Round-up 07.01.10 

SEVERAL Deeside AAC members are listed in the 2009 UK ranking lists.

Talented under 17 year old Rebecca Davies and under 20 junior Christina Hughes both appear in the women’s pole vault rankings.

Rebecca cleared 3-65m for 27th spot on the list, and third place on the under 17 rankings; and Christine catapulted herself to a season’s best height of 3-51m indoors, and 3-40m outdoors.

Lucy Roulson also appears on the under 17 pole vault list in 17th position with 3-10m, while Faye Calvert spun the discus to a best mark of 38.26m for 47th position on the under 17 ladies list.

Laura Turley clocked 27.4 seconds for 11th position in the under 13 girls 200m list, while club mate Sabrina Fortune hit 9.13m in the shot for 18th place, and 25.41m for 11th spot in the discus.

Lloyd Robbins produced a long jump of 5.96m for 18th position in the under 15 boys rankings.

And Abi Williams negotiated the under 15 girls 75m hurdles in a time of 11.65 seconds for 16th place.

Former Deeside AC international Laura Douglas, currently a Sale Harriers member, clinched fourth position in the women’s hammer with 64.50m, and also claimed 11.71m in the shot to clinch a place in the top 50.

Saughall-based Welsh international sprinter Lucy Evans posted 11.94 seconds for 39th position on the women’s 100m list, and also clocked 24.20 seconds for 34th position on the 200m list.

Wrexham AC are represented by Megan Rogers who secured second place on the under 17 ladies 300m hurdles list with a time of 43.19 seconds.

Hannah Thomas produced 12.10 seconds for ninth place on the under 17 ladies list and delivered a 200m performance of 24.98 seconds for 12th position.

Sion Roberts finished the year in 18th spot in the under 13 boys 200m rankings after clocking 26.2 seconds, and Matthew Williams secured 20th spot in the discus with 26.24m.

Thomas Cusworth posted 22.29 seconds for 16th place in the under 17 men’s 200m rankings, while Daniel Hodgson cleared 3-90m for 16th place in the pole vault.

And Wrexham AC’s under 20 junior Robyn Purchase claimed 40.45m for 45th place in the women’s javelin.

Ellesmere Port-based under 17 lady, Danielle Bentley, secured 43.20m for 31st place on the women’s javelin list and sixth place in the under 17 ladies rankings.

Kingsley-based shot-putter Will Lowndes, a member of Liverpool Harriers, hit 15.27m for 23rd position, and added 58.49m in the hammer for 26th position.

West Cheshire AC’s Dave McKay secured 18th position with 67.26m in the men’s javelin list, and under 23 club mate Carl van Schie posted 6,352 points for 23rd position in the men’s decathlon list.

Other West Cheshire AC members to feature in the age group ranking lists include Amy Williams who delivered 4.69m for 17th spot in the under 13 girls long jump, and Matthew Spencer who hit 13.08m for 15th position in the under 15 boys shot.

Alice McMahon, Alice Jennings, and Kelly Baker appeared in the under 15 girls list.

McMahon delivered 12.4 seconds for 12th place in the 100m, and 25.6 seconds for 12th spot in the 200m, while  Jennings cleared 1-62m indoors and 1-60m outdoors for 17th position in the high jump. Baker hit 11.06m for 14th place in the shot.
