YOUNG basketball stars from a Chester school have been improving their skills over the past two weeks.

It began with the Blacon Cluster Competition at Upton-by-Chester High School where Year Five and Six children from Newton Primary School came in second, scoring 24 goals in three games. The feat put the team through to the Chester Finals, held at the Catholic High School.

A school spokesman said: “The finals were a really tough competition with the best teams from each cluster group playing against each other.

“The Newton team really played well, tried their best and had fun despite not winning.”
